GistXL is able to leverage on its core language technologies and resources to develop effective innovative applications for language learning and the visually impaired.

Its technologies power the Lianhe Zaobao NewsTalk service, which provides Singapore school students with weekly Chinese news articles tagged with audio, romanisation and keyword definitions, together with online assessments. Teachers from schools can also upload their own content, which will be automatically processed through GistXL’s back-end servers in real-time and converted into the required format.

GistXL also supports omy.sg, the leading bilingual news and entertainment web portal in Singapore, audio-enabling and pinyin-enabling all Chinese news and blog content on the site. Visitors to the site can choose to read the articles with the aid of romanisation or simply listen to the audio version at a click.
